LIHOVAR show apartment

Since January, anyone interested in owning an apartment has been able to visit our newly opened 1-bedroom show apartment. This apartment illustrates the high standard and quality of living at LIHOVAR. It was conceived by interior designer Lucie Nováková and features high quality vinyl flooring, built-in wardrobes tailored to the apartment space made using certified materials from Egger by Czech carpenters, and designer solitary furniture. The atmosphere is completed with artworks which bring the LIHOVAR industrial ambience into the apartment. Hand-woven New Zealand woollen carpets and fine curtains hand-sewn in the Czech Republic add to the homeliness of the apartment.

    The architectural design is the work of Black n'Arch, a studio founded by David Černý and Marcel Soural with the intention of restoring quality to Prague's architecture and interlacing it with art. The LIHOVAR project is shaped by the industrial heritage of Smíchov and the presence of the original refinery, where the preserved components, such as the Erektus chimney and the distillery, now stand as dominant features across the entire site.

THE STORY

The spirit of LIHOVAR – and Smíchov as a whole – is rooted in the legacy of the Industrial Revolution. The area once bustled with engineering frenzy, sugar milling and factory production, earning itself the nickname “The MANCHESTER OF PRAGUE”. The LIHOVAR project is located on the site of one of Prague's largest original distilleries, Fischl & Sons. The distillery once capitalised on the then groundbreaking innovation of using residual molasses to produce alcohol. After production ceased in 2000, the site was left abandoned for over 21 years. It will now be succeeded by the residential project LIHOVAR, which will retain its historical charm and simultaneously become the birthplace of the modern Smíchov Riverside district.
