THE STORY
OF LIHOVAR
The spirit of LIHOVAR – and Smíchov as a whole – is rooted in the legacy of the Industrial Revolution. The area once bustled with engineering frenzy, sugar milling and factory production, earning itself the nickname “The MANCHESTER OF PRAGUE”. The LIHOVAR project is located on the site of one of Prague's largest original distilleries, Fischl & Sons. The distillery once capitalised on the then groundbreaking innovation of using residual molasses to produce alcohol.
After production ceased in 2000, the site was left abandoned for over 21 years. It will now be succeeded by the residential project LIHOVAR, which will retain its historical charm and simultaneously become the birthplace of the modern Smíchov Riverside district.
